Lisa Dowling Scott

LISA DOWLING-SCOTT Ba SocSci (Hons), UCD
Sound Artist

Lisa's work begins in the places she goes to for nourishment, release and perspective and in the places she is obliged to be in to survive nature bending treatment that is a necessary part of her life. In the studio organic recordings can be mixed with instruments and live footage from nature and internal and external built environments.  The results may be experienced as  gentle, cacophonic, wild and deeply peaceful. The resulting curated capsules of sounds and trailing audio experiences invite questions of place and time in the dissonance between the narrative and existential voice and the duality of life and decay. For the artist, it involves embracing meditative states over countless  hours of listening while immersed in nature,  maintaining alertness to the self, the equipment and the environment in order to capture, respond to and create voice.
